Comment Print

Grasim Industries will rebuild its brown stock washing and evaporation units and install a new bleach plant at the Harihar Kumarapatnam mill in Karnataka, India. The one-year project, scheduled for installation in the first quarter of 2026, will enhance energy and chemical efficiency in the pulp production line. The company sources the technology from Valmet Oyj.

The upgrade includes five TwinRoll presses and Valmet HC Ozone Bleaching technology to lower chemical usage and improve brightness. The new bleaching process also targets a reduction in effluent discharges.

The brown stock washing line will be rebuilt to improve washing efficiency. The evaporation plant will be modernized with eight new evaporator effects and a new vacuum system, aimed at optimizing heat recovery and cutting freshwater consumption.

Grasim is one of the world's leading viscose staple fiber and pulp producers and a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group.
